I was in a quandry for the same reason, however I finally just said screw it and cut the hole in the door panel just high enough above the speaker as to avoid the stray knee. I didn't regret it a bit, as the tweets sounded so much better placed there (on the same plane as the mids) than they did angled on the a-pillar. When I sold my truck, I just took all my amps and stuff out, wired the components to the head unit, and called it good. It still sounded way better than stock, so the buyer was happy.
