Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Power puck upgrade

I'm considering installing an aeromotive 13301 fuel pressure regulator between the OEM LP and the fuel filter. I was wondering if it would hurt anything to run the regulators bypass line into the VP44 return line, using a T fitting, or should I go all the way back to the tank. If I go to the tank where do I tap in.

Thanks,

Bill

I would carefully look at the OEM fuel return line first.

Follow the return line from the VP44 to the engine T. Remember you are looking at the OD, imagine what the ID is. Then go from the engine T to the nylon line that is inside the loose rubber sheath that goes down under the engine to the frame steel line. The OD of that line goes into the ID of the line off the engine T. Imagine what the ID of the nylon line is (I think I recall about 1/8"). Now remember the line you are looking at is the COOLING FUEL return line. I do not think there is much room for additional fuel in that line.

I cut the engine T line that goes back to the tank about 2" after it exits the engine T and put it inside of a AN-6 (3/8") and ran that all the way back to the tank filler vent pipe. I also ran a seperate line back to the tank filler vent pipe for my RASP bypass so I would not interfere in any possible way with the VP44 cooling return fuel.

I went with a return to the tank.

I used a tee adaptor that was fit into the tank fill hose. I bought mine from Glacier Diesel, but I think a copper pipe tee would work. The 1 1/4 copper pipe fittings are 1 1/2 OD and I believe the fill hose is 1 1/2 hose. Get a tee that is 1 1/4 by 1 /14 by 3/8 and see if that will work. The 3/8 would be 1/2 OD and work with 1/2 hose.

I took Bobs advice and decided to avoid using the return line from the VP44. I purchased the T adapter from Glacier diesel and routed the regulator return hose to the tank fill hose. Thanks for the help.

With oem pump, I don't think you would have much issue using the factory line for return.

If you are truely looking to upgrade the fuel system, use -8 line and a Draw Straw on the inlet side of the pump and -6 from there.

Get a bypass (also from Vulcan) and use the old factory supply line for return. Works like a champ.
