wiring issue: switch is off lights are on??

2013 Dodge Dart

I need Rear Tires for a 1955 Ford 600 tractor I have looked until blue in the face trying to find some info on the tires. Any help? How do they measure these thing rim width/diameter/ are there any different kinds mud/snow/tread designs?

I guess the tires are so old the size has worn off, not unusual. A lot of rear tractor tires have or have had fluid in them for weight. It is extremely hard on wheels because when they go flat the caustic fluid will rust/corrode the metal. Over time it will destroy them. When I get one that way I use several wraps of duct tape around the wheel to protect the tube from chaffing. Also use radial tubes, they are heaver and made out of better stuff. Just the tube is $100, so yes the tires are spendy.

At our I-H dealership, the set up department used an ethylene glycol antifreeze/water solution for added ballast in the rear tires when a customer asked for more weight instead of the more commonly used calcium chloride (salt). A calcium chloride solution is less expensive and heavier that an antifreeze solution, but the antifreeze won't rust/corrode the rims. Water only in a tractor tire when frozen will quickly ruin a tire and tube if the tractor is driven while the water in the tire is frozen and it takes a very long time for the ice in a frozen tire to completely melt.

Thanks Bill being from ca I say that in small letters because of the shame any way I didnt know untill I moved to MT that they put anything in tires except water. When we moved here FIL told be about it. We looked into it and mine had some kind of antifreeze in it. I bought the tractor in Oklahoma that must be what was in it because I have never messed with the tires untill now. I have to look into what the tire guy in Missoula has to offer up for advice also. For an old girl at the dance the Ford held up fine the other day using the bucket to dump snow over the fence and off of the drive. Thanks again for the help to all

There's an easy way to check which solution is in the tires if you are careful. Have a big glass of drinking water ready. Dribble a little of the solution out of the valve stem onto your finger. Taste of the solution on your finger, if it tastes sweet, it's antifreeze. if it tastes salty, it's probably calcium chloride. Immediately spit out the contents in you mouth and rinse your mouth out thoroughly at least twice with the water in the glass. DO NOT swallow any of the solution!! Ethylene glycol is poison and will lock down your kidneys!!

:-laf Thanks Bill Ill just take my chances by letting the tire guys do that in Missoula when I take it down for them to do the work. I have enough medical problems rite now I dont need to add self induced poising to the works :-laf

Most tire shops that regularly work on tractor tires are equipped with the necessary equipment to evacuate and temporarily hold the solution from the tire/tube before dismounting them and should be able to mount the new tire and tube on the tractor rim and pump the solution back into the tire.

Speaking of that I got a taste one night last week of the "embitterment" that the CAT Extended Life Coolant has in it to deter child and animal consumption (and apparently mine as well). .

Wow, is that ever nasty!!!!!!!!!!!

Bitter doesn't even begin to describe it, I don't think my 'fridge will hold enough beer to kill the taste of that stuff... ... ..... Blechhh:-laf

Mike. :)

Well obviously YOUR NOT DRINKING the correct beer Mike

I looked on tractordata.com

They do not list the 600, but have some from a couple of years later.

This link has tire/wheel sizes:

I was told that it will be either 10x or 11x cant tell untill they get the tire off. Tire shop said if they are the original rims they hardly ever marked them. I cant see anything and I have them off and on a trailer, maybe on the inside, hope it doesn't take long starting to snow hard and might need tractor for the wife to scoop snow off drive :-laf of course she will have to chain it up before she drives it

That's might big of you, to allow your wife to operate your tractor! Mine talks about it, but usually chickens out. She thinks I'm going to yell at her if something happens...

It would have to be something pretty major before I yelled at her. I'm the first to admit that when we got married, I got the better end of the deal. She is about the hardest working girl I've ever seen. A keeper for sure.

I yelled at her and got PO she was young and PO at me for being a 11 western Truck driver. When I joined the Military in 71 My Mom and Dad said that they would co sign for a car. I had a 66 Malibu but wanted to get something that I always wanted and could not afford. They knew that I was going to pay for it because I had a job for at least the next 4 years :-laf. I bought a 1970 Hemi Cuda 4 speed It was going to be my retirement car( can you imagine what that would be worth today) I was out on a run someplace she got lonely and took my ride out for a spin and WRAPED it around a power pole. I got home no car I asked she told me I blew up #@$%! then got in my truck and stayed gone for 10 weeks on the road. Made lots of money!!!!!!! but that cab and sleeper were get-in mighty small at the end of 10 weeks. :-laf

Sounds like you have got a keeper also we should be grateful for what we have because looking around there are alot of women that I WOULD STILL BE DRIVING ON THE ROAD :-laf
