I'm trying to help my dad figure out what is wrong with his 1989 F-250 with 7. 3 diesel. It's missing and stumbling around at about 2200 rpm and above, smoking white smoke.
He just installed new fuel tanks and a new filter, so it might be just air in the system. But I drove it awhile and, though it did improve some, it's still missing.
I'm wondering if it could be the delivery (lift) pump? I replaced it once years ago. Does anyone know how to test the output pressure and how much it should have?
My uncle thinks it's injectors, but I want to try cheaper potential causes first.
Thanks guys!
Blake
