Touareg2 - You gotta be kidding

Work truck has the following issue:

When coming off the throttle to shift, the engine dies. Tried it at a dead stop, and the same results... . take it to about 1800RPM and take my foot off the throttle, and it dies, however it does start up again. Here's my thoughts:

- New fuel filter

- Possible new fuel pump

- Injection pump??

Any other suggestions??

Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks

It starts and idles otherwise? Is it only when the throttle "snaps" shut? I'm wondering if it is a problem with the ETR solenoid.

Then my first thoughts are:

Idle set too low. or

Governor in pump sticking a little. Turning the idle up might help cover this problem up.

So, turn the idle up a little and see what happens.

I had a 90 also it never had that problem but something to look at is the connection and wires for the fuel shut of valve to the injector pump it needs a minimum of 9 volts to keep the valve open.

When my injector pump went bad it was hard to start because it lost prime when parked.

Ford calls that the ETR(Energize To Run)solenoid.
