Looking for a front mount reciever hitch for a '06 1500

Great isn't it. We are getting more and more in the utility fleet I work at. Another reason I drive a dodge. 25. 5 hrs. labor for something that was probably a fairly simple repair... once that cab was off that is.

I wonder how many times the cab of one of those pos has to be removed in 100,000 miles?

25. 5 hours labor at the typical $100/hr labor rate in a dealership, more in some locations, to remove the cab for every failure would get pretty pricey after the warranty expires.

Nice leather seats though.

I think the bigger problem is the frequency of failure on the PSD, combined with limited "diesel tech's" at the dealer. I am puzzled by the fact that someone decided its acceptable to build a truck this UN-servicable, though.

The diesel guys can get piled on pretty heavy and the 25 hour job can take alot longer than that. My work truck was in the shop for 3 weeks and a day for head gaskets and injectors recently. That was a real big problem for us(the company), we need that truck on the road making money, other wise it's a cost. The repair was warrantable, but the downtime hurt the bottom line and my performance rate.

yeah, those are called cabovers!:)
there might be conventionals that do to, I just haven't seen them.

I believe all trucks larger than a pickup meaning all true MDTs/HDTs have hinged nose sections that lift to expose the engine compartment.

Your description and statement are exactly correct. I hadn't exactly thought of them that way but you summed it up. Seems like a desperate decision, doesn't it.

IMO, this is a joke, and it would be funny if my youngest daughter and future son-in law hadn't just bought one.

They came out for a visit last fall. A few days after returning home, she calls me. "Hey Dad, Justin and I liked your diesel truck so much, we just went out and bought a new Ford F-250 diesel. " ??? I said "Well congratulations!" ???

Afterwards I asked her Mom,"We put her through eight years of college for this?"

Be a good future father-in-law and do the right thing. Tell that future son-in-law that a Dodge/Cummins is the only diesel worth buying. If he refuses, don't let your daughter marry him.

Couple of years back, we had our 2007 on display at the Mid America Truck Show, Louisville KY. Ford and everyone else was there. We had the hood up on the '07 and just like someone stated, you can see the ground under the truck. Two guys came up and said the Ford didn't have room for another coat of paint on the engine, it wouldn't fit, the other said there ain't room under the hood for a payment book!

The one aspect of taking the cab off, is how do you check your work? You have to reinstall the cab to fire it up just to look for leaks. If they made it a tilt hood, that would look interesting.
