How Long Does it Usually Take!

Heard from a couple guys at work that own 7. 3 PSDs that Ford has decided to scrap the 6. 0 after this year. Anyone else heard that? (I did a search on the top but didn't find any threads).

If that's true I'd be really ticked off if I bought a 6. 0... ... ... ... .

I've heard a few rumors over at the ford page about ford scrapping the 6. 0, but I haven't heard anything for certain. One guy even said he "heard" they were going to a 6. 4 twin turbo.

I would highly dopubt it after all the time and money spent on engineering it. After all I think they are finally getting all the problems worked out. Then again, maybe they think it is time to cut there losses

well can ya blame ford they have the least reliable lowest powered diesel out there now.

I heard they are scrapping heui and going for common rail injection similar to the bosh design.

Yes. I have heard the rumors. Twin turbod 6. 4. Common rail. There are even pictures of this engine floating around. Seems like they have a serious leak of information. Not like a manufacturer. More like fishing. You dont see cummins leaking information. Nor dodge. Otherwise a lot of people wouldve waited for the hemi instead of buying in 02. So why are they leaking information? Scared?

6. 4 common rail twin turbo HEUI fired valve train (camless) But this is the same company that couldnt figure out how to make pilot injection work either.

Do you have a source for that. I wanted to see a camless engine in a truck for a long time..... goodbye exhaust brake, hello engine brake with all that beautiful noise..... :D

If the "after this year" refers to the '04 model year, ain't true. (Refer to one of my other posts about my employment) - we are receiving '05s 250's and 350'salmost every day and the 'strokes are all 6. 0's.

If the "after this year" refers to the '05 model year - don't know and haven't heard anything.

I have sorta ticked off a few people at the dealership by showing them their posters that say 'most torque in it's class - 560 lb-ft' and then tell them about the 600 Cummins.

Its in a class all its own.

P. S. I dont think camless will be cost feasible on these baby diesels. Would be awesome though. Can you imagine the repair bills?

Yes, they were talking about the post-05 models.

BTW, which part of NM are you from?

Ford does have the the most power in its class. In the light duty class.

Dodge can say they have the most power in its class. Cummins medium duty class. Its all about the fine print or technicalities.

I work at the Ford & Chevy dealership in Los Lunas (20 miles south of Albuquerque) and live in Belen (35 miles south of Albuquerque). Stop by some time and we'll go drive a King Ranch 'stroke.

Don't believe everything you hear

Ford has finally gotten the bugs out of their new 6. 0L, why scrap it now? Fords whole problem steamed from the fallout they had with the engine maker, International. They had them developing a new V-6 diesel for use in their 1/2 ton models and select SUV's, when they suddenly yanked financing on the project and forced International to sue for damages, International had spent over 130 million dollars developing the program. As pay back, International refused to offer Ford programing help when they ran into trouble using their own programing to control engine management. As a result, Ford had countless troubles with the 6. 0L, many long time Ford users were turned off by the complications and break downs associated with the new diesel engine. All this happened at a time when Ford was on the brink of bankruptcy, the new diesel engine along with the re-designed F-150 and the Mustang were suppose to be the saviors of the Ford Motor Company, but the new Diesel engine was having so many problems it was doing anything but creating new wealth for Ford. The law suit with international was dragging on, and Ford finally settled out of court, giving them the go ahead to continue working on the V-6 diesel engine, while also asking Internationals engineers to help on the 6. 0L engine project. The rest you know.

I would love to get back to NM as soon as possible. We lived down South for almost 8 years before I was transferred to Vegas and consider NM our adoptive home.
