Thanks, TDR Staff

This transmission is supposedly off a 99 1 ton?

Interesting on Ebay

P-pumped ISB... not too shabby.

I really dig the dual Optima red top batteries with that trick hold-down... bungee cord! Now THAT is ghetto. Makes me wonder where else he cut corners?

Can't make the OEM gauge cluster work? Install a piece of sheet metal and slap some JC Whitney units in there... !

Nice idea... has potential... but is really not well thought out.

Matt

And just what exaclty is so horrible about making your own instrument cluster? I did something similar in my rig as I wanted to ditch the cable driven speedo. I also wanted guages with NUMBERS on them, and I suppose this fella did too. None of that "L-H"/"C-H" crap for me!

Let's see you do better!

I don't think Matt was dogging this guys idea of a custom gauge cluster but more the fact that he sort of "cheaped" out on it with crappy gauges. At least that is how I am reading it.

It's bad when one picture he's featuring a motorized fold out LCD screen... and the next he's got some mismatched gauges plopped into a makeshift gauge cluster.

I've seen your work, Don. You did a much better job than this guy. There's a right way and a wrong way to do things... it's perfectly possible to take aftermarket gauges and make them look nice, but the whole job looks rushed.

Matt

Well, I appreciate the compliments Matt. I actually had to do my setup over about three times, and it still bothers me a little that I ended up with six Autometer Z-series and two "******* children" that don't match the others(but there's a fair and legitimate reason for that).

Man, it looks like the engine was sitting under a tree for a year or two. It also doesn't look like the a/c is hooked up either, there is an open hose tie wrapped to the evap tubing. Notice he doesn't say if anything needs work or isn't finished. I bet if you called him it would be like "yeah, it needs this and this and this and this and this. But it is a bad mutha!" Cool truck, but it doesn't look done.

Travis. .

Yeah, now that ya mention it that always bothers me to see weathered looking valve covers on any engine. Especially if it's sitting on somebodys garage floor and they claim it "ran good when pulled".

oddly enough it has the "secret" 7. 3L 8 cylinder cummins too.

:-laf

The 7. 3 is an entry from an eBay form as it only recognizes the engine available for the year make and model.
