In January 2017 we passed along the latest truck industry news to you that Ford was entering into the half-ton diesel engine market with their 2018 F-150, 3.0-liter Power Stroke V6, thus becoming direct competition to the Ram 1500, 3.0L EcoDiesel V6.
Fast forward and Ford has officially announced they are dropping the F-150 diesel engine option. All final orders for them were taken by Ford as of July 16th. Ford’s primary reasoning seems to be their higher sales for their F-150 with the EcoBoost 2.7-liter V-6 option, which they say, boasts slightly improved fuel economy over the diesel option, but a significantly higher horsepower rating.
