06 Ford PS to Cummins next!

1966 Chrysler 300 2d hdt

F350 with cummins and nv5600. Hard to downshift while driving since transplant. Master cylinder to clutch is Ford, slave at transmission is mopar. While driving it wont downshift without pressure on the stick and manually sync (rev motor). Feels like it's not getting quite enough travel on the slave cyl rod. There is no bleed valve to make sure all air is out. Looking for shop in Austin that is familiar and "trustworthy" with this situation. any help is appreciated!

Some of the ford slave cylenders are adjustible try doing that one and see what happens .

how did that NV 5600 shift before the swap , how does the oil look ?

IMO the Ford master cyl. and the Dodge slave cyl. could very well be your problem.

In my experience with with automotive hydraulics, it is very important to have to have the correct volume of fluid from the MC to the respective volume of the SL.

In other words, a matched set.

It sounds like you might need more throw (longer stroke at your throw out bearing), for your clutch to release properly.

dvolk has a good question. how well did the transmission shift before the conversion? when i converted my gmc to a 12v/nv4500, i had the air purged in a short time. does the transmission upshift with any issues? all 3 of my nv4500 equipped trucks are a bit finiky when down shifting, my 5600 truck isnt much better. the nv trannys in my opinion are not as down shift friendly as other 4,5 and 6spd equipped trucks that i have. not saying you dont have a problem, just offering a suggestion.

Sorry for delayed response, computer crash :(

DVOLK: No adjustment on slave (Ford or Mopar, this one is Mopar NV5600), have to unbolt and activate rod manually, not sure how it shifted prior, oil looks fine.

RHestand: Other than possible air in the system, I believe you might have hit it on the nail. Either way air or mismatch it's too bad the company that did the install didn't bother to do it right.

Jueckert: transmission was "supposed" to have been a fresh rebuild, just have to take their word for it as I do not have the warm fuzzys regarding the install shop. Upshifts fine. NV Trannys are a bit clunky but definitely not working quite right.

I appreciate all the input and will report back what I discover.

There is some years of fords that were adjustible like 86 or so ?

Or you could cut and use all rod to adjust possibly by threading the rod .

How was the clutch , new or used ?

I know of a guy whom put a ford master cyle in his gm

I think the gen2 dodge masters bolt on like the fords so thats a option

is the slave used ? , is the clutch slideing all the way back and forth on the splines of the transmission ?

Was there any mods that were done or that are need to the bearing retainer of the transmission .

Is this a ford cummins or destroked kit you used ?

Zack & Alex at Hamiltons in Liberty Hill Texas just out of Austin. Honest and professional. The throw of the slave cylinder rod was increased by adding to it, truck now shifts fine.

what was added to it? pushrod length in the truck or slave cly pushrod length? . . if it was the slave how did he add on to it. . normally they have that plastic flexible retainer holding the rod in etc.
