This is my first time on a forum, but I have some questions so please forgive me if I'm not doing this correct. I have purchased 2 f350's one that was bulletproofed, and the other not. Both have 6.0 engines. I have blown the heads on both because I haul a 3-car hauler. Which engine is better, a cummins, durmax, or should I go with a f450. Please give some advice before I waste anymore money
 
call destroked. they specialize in getting rid of those pesky 6.0s and dropping in a 5.9 and make kits to drop in any generation cummins and make it bolt to the ford trans. It isn't going to be cheap. There are many bullet proofing 6.0 kits out there doesn't mean all of them are good. It can be made into a decent engine with about 10k, but it still wont have the torque curve that you get from the straight 6.

look at it this way a V8 has 5 main cap's and 8 rod's a straight 6 has 7 main cap's and 6 rod's .To boot the rod's on a cummin's compared to a 6.0 are Hugh the Ford Motor is a Light duty where is the Cummin's is a Medium duty motor . If you also notice that ford Doesn't use there 6.0 or 6.4 or even there 6.7 power strokes in there Big truck's 650 and up Only come with a Cummin's or Cat . there is a reason why Medium duty for the right class . if your pulling a 3 car with a 350 your pulling the gut's out of that poor thing and the Only thing it's going to do is Put you in the Poor House . Dump the silly v8 and just go test drive a Dodge you will see why we all like them .

A few corrections are in order. The 6-litre has 5 main bearings, and the Cummins has 7. The new F650 is powered by the Scorpion engine- the Cummins is NLA in that chassis. I wonder how many owners are going to get "stung" by that package- sort of like an International with a VT 365.

Regarding the OP's question, you could have been half-way into a RAM 5500 for all the money you spent fixing those 6-litres. Allegedly, the 6.7 is "fixed", but would you want to beta test another one and risk seeing the engine all over the shop floor while you're supposed to be making a living with it?
 
In the C&C version of the FORD 6.7L, there have been NO changes to the engine platform, only the pickup truck engines. The C&C engine is still the same dung-pile that Ford introduced in mid-year 2010 for the 2011 MY trucks.
 
What about the exhaust valve failure problem, have they fixed that?
We havent had an exhaust valve failure in about a year.. dont know if its just luck or they finally got it gutless enuf so that it lives. There was a different TSB released for the L/S cylinder head valve sitcking during regen conditions causing the engine to sputter.
They ARE shop queens though... constantly needing something
 
From what I have read, the 6.7s are worse than the 6.4s. They put a tiny turbo on them that are failure prone, and the internal are weaker than the stuff in the 7.3s. Its amazing how desperate the Ford guys to cling to the brand. If those things didn't say Ford on the front, nobody would be willing to put up with them.
