Weather forcast for Fairbanks Alaska for tonight

Have a happy and safe 4th of July

Hi All,

My Fiances for Focus had the check engine light come on so she had the codes checked at Schucks. It came up with

"P0122 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Low Input"

I would think this means the TPS is toast which should be easy enough to fix. Anyone know what the "Switch A Circuit Low Input" is all about.

I'd hate to have to take it to the dealer if it's something simple.

Thanks,

Mike

Dl5treez,

Thanks very much for the detailed reply. I had to hit the road right after I posted this so I didn't get a chance to check it out. It started doing goofy things like idling at 2000-2500 RPM and surging on the highway. Sooooo, she ended up having to go to the dealer :{ . Turned out to be something to do with the throttle body (that's as much as she could explain). Parts=$140, Labor = $160 (once again :{ ). Oh well, at least it's fixed and running fine.

Again, thanks for the info and I apologize for not re posting sooner (living on the run :D ).

Actually she really likes it. For a little car it has plenty of passenger space inside (front and back seats) and still has a decent size trunk. I'm actually comfortable sitting in the passenger seat and not crowded which is more than I can say for most other compact sedans.

This is the only problem she's had in 58,000 miles. I'm the last person you'd ever see buying a Ford and I wasn't impressed with the idea of her buying one but hey, it's her money. She's happy, I'm happy.

Thanks for your opinion though.

Mike
