propane injection????

Please tell me that isn't a HEMI on the TDR cover #53

My misguided brother has a I think 99 and says it is smoking alot. He bought it used and it has a banks sticker on the side but he doesn't really know what it has had done to it. He got concerned and brought it to a ford shop and they said his fuel pressure is high 90 psi (they say should be more like 50) I have no idea where they took the reading from. They have ordered a pressure regulator and now my brother wants to know if he needs one. I told him he should have bought a dodge but too late now lol. If any one has any ideas or suggestions please let me know. Also are there any easy signs he can look for other that all the smoke that the truck is mod. ? Thanks

The shop either pulled the reading with a mechanical gauge plumbed in to the feed lines going into the fuel galleys in the cylinder heads, or found it electronically with a scan tool. The fuel pressure regulator (FPR) that is mounted on the driver side of the filter housing is most likely the problem.

Excessive smoke-----what color is the smoke? Could be anything from excess fuel supply pressure to injector o-rings to a faulty IPR to a faulty ICP sensor to a plugged air filter to a failed turbocharger seal.....

The fuel supply pressure at the head should be ~45-55psi. If it was my truck and I saw 90psi supply pressure, I'd seriously look at the FPR.

Hope this helps,

Dan
