Ford gasser question

Was just putting some oil in little brother's 66 Bronco... on the dipstick was some peculiar lookin' stuff looked kinda rustr colored and foamy at the very tip of the dipstick... . I wiped it on a rag and it looked like rust... . the engine is a 170 I6
with a one barrel carb... . anyone have any idea as to what this rust stuff would indicate???

yeah, its condensation from the innards of the engine. It sits on a surface and rusts that surface. The best way to get rid of it is to make sure the engine warms up each time it is driven. A thorough warmup will "burn" the moisture out of the engine.

My wifes 92 Ford Thunderchicken with the 302 has had some trouble with that. I put a new pcv valve but no help. Some times what happens is like what was already said, make sure the motor always gets warmed up good. I've heard that it takes 15-20 min of running a fully warmed[to proper temp] engine to burn the moisture and impurities in the oil off. However in my wifes case she drives about 25 min every day one way and I was still having problems. I decided after talking to the parts man that I have poor air circulation in the motor. So I took a vacume line and ran it to a breather tube that came out the the oil fill spout and let the vacume pull air through the motor. One good drive 45 min one way took care of it. Hope this can help.
