My neighbor was just telling me he heard that Ford & Cat just signed a long term agreement starting in 2007... ... Anyone heard this?

nope we already have 6. 4 powerstrokes running around here. They have common rail injection. The engines are built about 20 miles from our shop

GEE, does that mean Ford no longer owns Cummins?

:-laf the same people were saying that cummins dropped dodge, and that they were going with a CAT motor as well :-{} . . . . you just have to laugh sometimes :D

Cat

Well I just had to post! I figured if something was going on I would have read it here first.

Maybe ford is going to put perkins in thier trucks then! ;) I can't think of any other 6 cylinders with the CAT name that would fit (the C7 is big compnared to a cummins), but then again I can't think of any v-8's that cat makes that any pickup could even carry. :D You know them ford guys would "need" a V8! :-laf

YUP - that was pretty much my point - when the "salesmen" at Ford are still telling potential customers that "Ford own Cummins", it sure isn't too logical to put any credence to what "the guy down the street" has to say about supposed high-level corporate manuevers... ;) :D :-laf

They will put it in the bed :D What ever it is I'll probably be going with it anyway.

well i hate to say this but ...

my buddy buys a new ford each year ... young, single ... works for haliburton (go uncle Dick)

when he got his new '05 6 speed 'stroke the salesman (a highschool buddy of ours) told him the same thing

i didn't post it for fear of the "ford owns cummings" comments that were sure to follow ...

so now you guys can pick on klaybus and me

Yep, they probably did for the medium duty F650-750s. They've had the CAT option for several years already just like the Cummins B series is an option.

Ford and International are on shaky terms lately, though. I wander what the future holds..... We all know you cant lick an I6 with a V8 any way. When will the other guys learn??

Your probably right Bill. I guess a FERD guy can interpret it any way he wants. He's in love with his FERD. I just laugh & puff a little black cloud towards his FERD as I drive away leaving him in a cloud.
