twins for a PSD?

Diesel Powered Cessna 182 tested

OK, I was giving a hard time to a friend for paying over $200 each for injectors for his '97 Power Stroke. His come back was he makes up for it in that an injector pump only costs $200 instead of our $1800. Is that right, how can a $200 pump work up the needed PSI. I know his injectors are electronic, do they make the PSI and the pump just act as a lift pump?

Ford uses HEUI injectors. Hydraulic electronic unit injectors. They use high pressure oil to pressureize the fuel. They control the oil to the injector to control when and how much fuel gets delivered.

Close... Quantity and timing are all controlled elctronically by the PCM/IDM.

JWhitcomb, I bet he is talking about the fuel supply pump for the PSD, which can be around two bills. :D

Evan, thats what I thought when he mentioned two bills. I kept asking if it was just a lift/fuel pump. He is a good friend who I had not seen for quite a while. When I pulled up at his place in my year old truck he went into his Ford is best gig. Then I said where is it, I would like to check it out. He got quiet and said its in the shop. Advantage whitcomb/ram. I gave him a hard time the rest of the visit.
