Enclosing a trailer

Picked up 5th wheel, ???Backing up

A buddy of mine just bought a new Dodge. He works at a local dealership as a Ford mechanic & is disgusted with what he sees daily. He said the straw that broke the camel's back was following a friend's Dodge (a chipped 03) with a much bigger trailer during the Rita evacuation & not being able to keep up. It was so bad he cooked the turbo trying... ... ... .

When I went to Colorado with a buddy in his Hummer, I would drop him like a rock on any significant hill. He was hauling a 6x10 open trailer that had his dirt bike on it, that was it. I had our 22' toyhauler with 3 dirtbikes in it, a full water tank and enough stuff for 2 weeks of camping. What was really funny is when we filled up for gas, we got the same gas mileage. His Hummer does have nice seats though...

Two of my friends went to the Harley rally last summer. One has a 2003 HO 48re and pulled a 14K fiver. The other pulled an enclosed trailer with two Harleys with a nearly new 6. 0 Chevy 1500. Guess who got the better mileage over nearly 4K miles.

not sure how this turned into a mileage thread but i do know the 7. 3 IDI's get at beast 17-19MPG empty and a lot worse than that towing. I've talked to guys towing 14K and up that get in the very low teens to single digits with the powerstrokes.

after two CPS sensor failures in 44K our 7. 3 Excursion was sent packing, those things are the devil if you asked me.
