Does anybody have any text or proof that Ford does not own Cummins? The ignorant Ford owners whom I work with insist that is true. I call B. S.

Imagine that. The words "ignorant" and "ford owners" in the same sentence :-laf

My boss mentioned to me this week that Ford had bought out Cummins. He can't understand why Ford will not install a Cummins into the Ford pick-up if the Cummins is such a good engine.

The rationale with the Ford guys is that Ford owns Cummins, but won't put the CTD in their trucks because it is an inferior engine compared to the Power Stroke, so Ford inflicts it on us stupid Dodge guys.

For those folks, I point out that you can get a Cummins in a Ford truck. It just has to be an F650 or F750, and it is a premium engine. That'll usually end the discussion.

Saw this signiture ,says it all:

Don't Argue with a idiot, he will just drag you down to his level and beat

It was kinda funny. A couple of weeks ago I was on one of my projects sites visiting with some of the folks doing some work there. Since there was a Cummins/Dodge that one of them was driving, we began talking diesels. During the conversation, one of the guys came out and said “Ford owns Cummins, ya know. ” I started laughing out loud. The guy looks at me all confused. I notice his expression and reply “You’re joking, right?” He says “No, they really do!” Anyway, I tried to explain to him that Ford does NOT own Cummins. This has been an urban legend passed down for generations (at least 3?) If they did, they’d be plopping these engines in every one of their trucks. Given the well-known problems with the Powder Stroke 6. 0, wouldn’t it seem logical and prudent to install an engine that they own rather than another? Not sure I convinced him about Ford not owning Cummins, but all agreed and admitted the Powder Stroke is problematic.

This fact will not hold water in a argument due to the diesel engines DC ownes, and does not install under the hood of a Dodge.

Given that statement, and that statement alone, that is true. The Cummins has not been problematic. I know many people who purchased a Cummins, with the Dodge truck being standard equipment. The Cummins engine has sold many, many DC trucks for them. I don’t hear of folks buying the PS 6. 0 with a Ford as standard equipment.

DaimlerChrysler owns Detroit, and Mercedes, so why don't they use those? They own them... .

Similar argument,, other foot.

Cummins sells the 5. 9L ISB-e to DaimlerChrysler, without warranty. What Dodge Does after that, is none of Cummins problem.

Cummins sells to many other profitable companies, and some not so profitable (FordMC as example :-laf )

Oh, yah, and It's my Last name, not a misspelling of the Cummins Name... .

Ford owns my family? LOL

Hey, Thanks guys. Now I got some ammunition. Now that I think about it, I did see a ford with a Cummins symbol on the tailgate. I thought maybe the guy worked at the local Cummins plant in Jamestown Ny. (it was a f-150 by the way) I got up next to him and on the fender read M 100 cummins or somthing like that. Those weren't exactly the numbers because I was so dumb founed that a ford had a cummins in it. A half ton no less. Is there any truth to that or should I lay of the beer for a while.
