Stopped for fuel today and there was a new ford powerstroke 6. 0 beside me. He was inside paying when I got their but when he came out and started his truck I was surprised by how loud it was. I could hear it running over my truck sitting their idling. It didn't sound like he removed the muffler but I guess it is possible. It sounded just like the 7. 3 powerstroke not quiet like I thought they were supposed to be. I guess he got the reflash that removed the pilot injection.

That thing crank a lot before it started and then it stumbled once or twice before it smoothed out.

... And dont they have to crank a little bit to build up oil pressure for hte HEIU? Something like 3000psi oil press? Correct me if I'm wrong. My sperm donor's 3406E Cat cranks about 4 sec before firing, too. (I read somewhere that they have HEIU as well. Gimme HPCR anyday)

"Most likely. The ones I have "heard", you can't hear them when being passed on the road. "

Well yeah, all the dead ones *I* have passed on the road WERE pretty quiet! ;) ;)

:-laf These were moving on their own. :) Of course the semi and my pickup both have straight exhaust. So they pretty much drown out most other trucks anyways. :D

3406E Scaterpillar doesn't have heui, it just has eui.

Scaterpillar 3126 has heui, little kick ass engine. If Flord teams up with cat and puts a 3126 in their trucks we ( cummins owners) are screwed. they have 330hp, and 800+lbsft. will not walk away from an ISB, they RUN.

Cfast you must not have ridden in a bombed CTD yet. 330hp and 800lbs is a cake walk to acheive with a Cummins. 04. 5 Dodges have the 325hp and 600lbs Cummins in them already from the factory.

true, but ford seems to think that their owners want the engine to tach 4k+ rpm. that 3126e engine will only go ±2500rpm. and they won't like the extra rpm either. the internals are pretty heavy...

mcoleman, you're right. I've never ridden in a bombed out cummins. I don't know anyone that owns one. How long will the cummins last at 850lbsft trq? Is it really that easy to do? I'm still new to this site, and still learning. I wasn't bashing on the B, I think this engine is pretty indestructable. I've driven motorhomes at work, one's with 3126's and one's with B's. The CAT's are way more powerful. Way more complex too. I was just sharing what i've seen at work. :)

Well I know a guy with well over 900 foot pounds that has over 235,000 miles and still counting. He ran a 13. 28 last fall with the fifth wheel hitch still in the bed along with a heavy toolbox on street radials. It's an easy 12 second truck with slicks and he hot shots with it. It's also a 24 valve and still has the original VP44. Not sure how far Fresno is from the San Francisco bay area but if you ever get the chance to check out a band called Red Meat from the area do it. They are great.

the guy with over 900 ftlbs and 235,000 miles, has he had the 900 ftlbs for all those miles? That's alot of tq! what transmission does he use?

He is still running the stock original 47RE that has been upgraded with a valve body, billet input shaft, update kit, and converter from Suncoast. Not sure how long he has made those numbers but I would bet that there are several on here with over 800 lbs and high mileage.

CFast dont think i am hackin on ya. but you have alot to learn about these cummins and what they will do. you are going to be suprised. CAT engines are good i have a d3 cat dozer and i love it. the d/f this 5. 9 has so many parts avaiable to the its like a 5. 0 mustang engine. very easily bombed. these 5. 9's are holding over 600hp with stock longblock!!!!! that will put it over 1000ftlbs. Go to the competition forum you stand to gain a little more respect for the mighty B than you have. When i was at 93 posts i was still learning and even today i learn s/m. i still dont understand the whole water/meth deal but i will i am just to lazy to read that long freakin post about it. learn to use the search function it will help you tremendously. I hope i am not coming off as talking down to you b/c i am not but read everything can and you will say yea CAT is ok but cummins rules :)
