Just got my new Diesel progress news magazine. Had a great story on Fords new land speed record for the Modified mini midsize pickup truck.

Dubbed the Ranger rocket with Mark Hill behind the wheel, set a new world land speed record for its class at the Southen California Timing Assn/ Bonneville Nationals, inc.

The truck started life as a stock 2001 Ford ranger pu truck. From there the crew with help from Ford and others, modified the truck for the speed runs.

The stock driveline was replaced with a NASCAR Winston Cup spec Ford V-8 engine displacing 371. 3 cu inch. with a rated output of 950 HP. The engine was built to 2001 NASCAR specs by Roush Industries.

Engine power is directed through a Jerico racing transmission and on to a AFord 9" modified rear end turning 3. 33:1

The truck is lowered 3" with custom suspension components in place.

The truck ran 205. 208 miles per hour!!!!!!!!

That is with a estimated 950 hp! Wow!!??

Fast ford Faster Cummins

It sure makes the "little" 5. 9 Cummins look good when it took 950 hp to go 205. I realize the gasser is naturally asperated but to me it proves a point about hp against torque. Even on the salt flat torque is necessary to move the load.
