A friend of mine a few years ago put a seat from a early 90s ford in his Dodge. It was a bench seat with a flip down arm rest. Any one done this? I've got to recover my seat or find another pretty soon.

I replaced my seat with aftermarket buckets. The seats that I used will fit all full size pickups only the mounting brackets change. Most likely the Ford seat wold fit in place but would probably have to modify the mounts or drill new holes in the floor.
I still have the original seat from my truck, its in fair condition, and free if you want it, email me if you are interested.

I know its personal preference, but I have two buddies who have mid 90's Ford trucks and both have replaced their seats because they said they were miserable on long trips.

Thanks for the replies. Etobicoke, what kind of seats did you put in your truck? And what color is your factory seat?

Scott, my new seats are from Steelhorse. I like the seats, but the brackets that came with them were junk. I ended up making my own brackets and tossing the ones that came with the seats. Steelhoeses delivery was also slow, and never did get any hardware. There are other brands of aftermarket seats available, check for an earlier post by Paccool.
My old seat is charcaol (grey) and no rips or stains, only the pipping is worn on the driver's side.
If you like I can send you a photo(s) of the new and/or old seats, just email me.

My bottom is a very poor match for the nice
tan bench in my 93 Dually, so I took some measurements, then started looking and sitting. The seat that I liked the most was a nice Lariat 40/60 bench with recline on both sides and mechanically adjustable lumbar in a 97 F**d F150 that I bought for $250. As far as I can determine, there is nothing commercially available to adapt this seat to a 1st Gen. I am in the process of setting the driver's half on wood blocks and adjusting the seating location with shims until I'm satisfied, then fabricating seat bases out of 1/4" mild steel, possibly with
manual seat base tilt on the drivers side. I have done 7 or 8 other seat conversions in the past that have worked out pretty well, or at least the last few have. Sometimes it
takes about 3 times longer than you can imagine it should, but I guess that's the price of personal satisfaction for those of
us who aren't always satisfied with manufact-
ured solutions.
