Happened to be watching the boob tube last night (something I rarely do) and saw an ad for the Ford 2003 lineup. They showed the Ford F-350 Tonka truck. Just wondering if this is really going to be a production truck this fall? Anyone know??

My neghbor checked with the ford dealer and he is waiting to get one. Must be true according to him and his dealer. I haven't seen the commercial yet.

Check this artical out

Here is an artical about the new Tonka truck. Check out the paragraph that starts out "Ford Power Stroke diesels had no rivals in power and durability for light duty trucks ... ":p

In the lastest Trailerlife mag there is an article about the Tonka and its 350hp 600 ft. lbs torque engine that Ford is hinting may make it to production. Dodge spokesperson then said in effect that they would match or better those numbers!!! with the Cummins. WOW!!

its still up in the air

There is a great article in trailer life comparing the new Ram against the Ford Tonka

Sweet lookin truck

Hmmmm that seems like a fairly low HP / TQ ratio to me. When I was at 360HP, I was at 800 ft/lbs with my mighty Cummins... ... ... I'm sure that's a function of the lower displacement per cylinder that the FlowderChoke has versus the Cummins.

WHOA!! C4, what do you know about this truck? Production date? What year? That is very sweet!!

Quote from the Tonka truck artical:

Ford is offering a Power Stroke 525 that delivers 525 ft lbs of torque at 1600 rpm. Now that is pulling power! :

WOOOOHOOOO!

Its a SEMA truck from Dodge, all sorts of fancy stuff on it.

Cummins tuned it to an estimated 350-370hp and 650-750TQ at 1400rpms

Just our luck that the engine in this sweet looking thang will be the expensive to buy/run/maintain egr equipped "take the easy way out hodge podged just in time engine" from cummins. (Whew, is it getting hot?):D :D

The article was correct when the author stated " Ford did not have any competition in the light duty diesel department until the Duramax was introduced"; Just goes to show... . even the competition recognizes the Cummins as a "medium duty diesel".
