I just found something about the Ford 6.7 I never knew. It has an engine driven vacuum pump. Most of the trucks I work with are '11's and they are starting to need these.

It's directly behind the fan support bearing.
Incidentally, the 2 grooved pullies are the 2 water pumps for the split cooling system it has.

Wayne what kind of mileage are they failing at? I have one that appears to be leaking oil from the gasket on a customers truck. Are you able to replace by just pulling the fan or does the radiator have to come out?

Sorry, I don't have numbers as the truck is gone, but no the rad does not come out. The shroud is split, and the fan comes up and out. Then the fan hub/ bracket/ bearing. The gasket looks fancy, and comes pre attached on the new unit. I wouldn't chance it. If it's coming off, put a new one pump on.

They're actually holding up well. Silly things like injector hold downs breaking and typical SCR issues. The complicated design scares me though.

I our shop, 98 percent of the engine work requires the cab be removed from the frame, in order to get to the components. That engine is a COMPLICATED design, even has two cooling systems!

I purchased a brand new one in 2011. Made it 10,756 miles then proceeded to eat three turbos and two engines. I knew I couldn’t afford to keep it after the warranty ran out and RAN back to Cummins. Having to pull the cab for each engine visit scared the hell out of me.
