I have a 99 truck 5 speed, 90hp injectors, volant cold air intake, 4 inch exhaust, edge comp, luk clutch, bullydog big fuel kit [14psi]. Recently I replaced the turbo with the htb2 64/14. With my stock turbo I saw 1350 egt. With the htb2 I am seeing 1300egt. I know it should do better than that, but also I am only getting 40psi boost wide open. [boost fitting at full boost]Spool up is around 1700rpm, so what is up with my truck? I've heard that if you have small injectors, the htb2 won't fully spool. So if correct how big should I go? How big is too big to tow 7 ton? & How much boost do you guys get with htb2 turbo & bigger injectors? any haulers with similar setups give me a note, cause I "almost" lost a run with a powerstroke today & I am going nuts. HELP!

I'd think with the 14 housing you should be able to go with Mach 4's or another 150 hp injector and still be able to tow 14,000. My gooseneck is 15,000 and I've been towing with BD 155hp injectors. I just put in Mach 6's and think I'll be ok based on initial egt observations. Of course I've got BD twins (also 410 gears) so that may make a difference. With the BD inj I never got over 1250. That 64-14 should move a good bit of air so 120-150 hp inj should be reasonably safe. Of course towing heavy and hot rodding is usually a compromise and twins (at least used to be) has been the great equalizer between spool, moving air, and cooling. The BD's are not going to net you the most hp, but they are a great compromise for towing and power. If I didn't find the deal on the BD twins I was going to go with a 64-14 myself. I think you'll find a happy medium once you find the right injector.

On another note, you could always add a Smarty. It won't help you on the top end, but it will get you moving loaded or unloaded!

Thanks for the input guys, but sorry for the slow reply. I was on vacation & had no internet. I keep hearing that "get a smarty" comment from everyone. Is it really that good? Also I called a couple places about the injectors & everyone seems to be pointing me toward the 150 hp injectors. I have 90hp injectors now & comparing the stock ones to 90hp & looking at 60 more horses if I go with the 150 hp just don't seem to be enough. Also are you selling the bd's. Thanks again guys.

What year was the Powerstroke?

Are you a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton? What was he?

It was probably a 2000 or so 7. 3 powerless. blowing alot of smoke & man was the turbo loud. I am a 3/4 ton, he was also. Got him in 5th gear, but before that it was head to head. Finally my turbo lit & I was gone. My brother & I own a excavating business & always following each other to work, so if I would have lost he won't with his 04. 5 6 speed truck runnin crazy larry. {I used to beat him bad before the turbo change, now he is gone] thanks
