Anyone running Sumitomo tires???

Any V-series Detroit mechanics ?

It doesn't look good for Ferd or International. Maybe Dodge/Cummins will get more business as a result of all the bickering. :-{}

I wish ford made better trucks so that dodge and gm would continue to be motivated to improve. Successful competition is a good thing. :D

You are absolutely right... . nothing is better then some good competition. Dodge trucks are far from perfect, and we need the others to pressure Dodge to make the right changes, and continually evolve the trucks.

While I am not exactly a Ford fan, I do like many of the things they do with there trucks, and wouldn't mine seeing some of them adapted to the Dodge. Ford and International will for the short time make-up and continue to build engines, but long term they may decide to make a change. Ford is currently working on manufacturing there own diesel engine, which I assume is suppose to replace the International one? This will be fun to see how it pans out.

IMO Ford makes a great truck, they just can't get the diesel thing down. Should have never departed from the 7. 3L.

I can not agree with that statement. They may offer more frills, but that does not make for a better truck. Engines aside, they are always in the shop for everything else.

I own a excavating business & get tired of hearing my masons saying that they were late because the new 06 Ferd 6. 0 wouldn't start or broke something. It is rediculous when he had the truck for 6000 miles & it was down for the front wheel bearings went out. He has a lawsuit with them because the head has cracked 3 times & lost the bottom end. Ferd just keeps putting bandaids on a bad engine. If anyone here is a Ferd fan..... he will trade even up for a Dodge 1 ton dump. It only has 40k on it now at most.

I wouldn't touch a 6. 0 PS with... well, with nothing!

To tell you the truth..... I am tired of him asking me what I think is wrong with it. He has some bad injectors & it blows more blue smoke than my truck blows black. I pull a skidsteer [985LX New Holland] with attachments & trailer, full 100 gallon tank of fuel to work. He follows me empty & has to shift down into 2nd gear on hills that I take in 4th. I'm tired of having to pull over & wait when we are headed to a new jobsite that he doesn't know the location & can't keep up. I hate that truck!

This has got to be bunk. Have spoken with several newer Ford truck guys and they know nothing about the upset. In fact, they are, for the most part, very excited about the new engine with it's twin turbo. All I hear about... ... ... ... Twin turbo.

I cannot agree with that statement either. I owned a 7. 3L Ford Super Duty and it was in the shop 5 times in 6 months!! INCLUDING one trip for the infamous turbo-bolt issue (3 of the 4 were completely GONE) AND once to replace the turbo that was bad (probably due to dirty air entering).

I still like the styling of the Ford but I refuse to buy ANY diesel that isn't in an inline configuration. I have worked in the mining industry and I tell you, SERIOUS diesel engines are inline, not V.

The problem is the stupid American culture that wants to be able to grab their crotch and tell everybody how big their diesel engine is as they compensate for something else they are lacking. #@$%!

If Ford and GM ever want to get serious about diesels, they will scrap those POS V-8's and go with an inline 6 IMO.

The larger issue however is a question as to WHY those International diesels were having issues compared to the commercially available International diesels in other trucks. Could it be Ford's implementation? I only ask because of the way that Ford screwed Firestone.

As for competition, I couldn't agree more. If it wasn't for Ford and Chevy selling all those crewcabs, we wouldn't have the Mega-Cab we have now. One other thing, what if a guy wants a crew-cab AND a long bed??

I love my Dodge but some of the things the folks in Detroit (or in Dodge's case Germany) boggles the mind. Of course, people paying over $50k for a truck boggles the mind as well!!

I agree with the 7. 3L statement. Still driving the old 1990 and its got over 210,000 on an engine that has never had ANY work done to it. Not to say it is perfect anymore, but it has never given me a problem. Not that I am getting rid of my dodge..... ever:D

It's been my experience that most Ford owners don't spend any time researching their vehicles. At least, not in forums like thedieselstop.com, where it's easy to see the dangers of the 6. 0. Instead, they remain blissfully ignorant.

Actually, to be accurate, I'd say most Dodge and GM buyers are the same way. Diesel owners on the whole are more knowledgable about their trucks than gasser owners, but it's still a small percentage who are willing to take the time to really research.

Most people decide what vehicle they want based on how "nice" it looks (inside and out), then if they do any research at all they do it in such a way as to reinforce the decision they've already made.

I've read here (can't find it now) and on TDS that the International 6. 0's (VT365) are also terribly troublesome. You may notice that just last year International introduced the MaxxForce line of engines. I believe these replace the VT365 (the Maxxforce 7 is the 6. 4l powerstroke).

been around trucks all my life, owned all three brands of diesels [at least three each]and to tell you the truth, all three treated me well engine wise. dodge provided me with the worst truck overall, ford the best. my trucks get a work out,farming/construction/logging,and if they dont work,i dont make money. all three brands have had good production runs over the years, and bad runs as well. when ford dropped the 7. 3, i dropped ford and decided to give dodge one last try, so far it has proved to be the best dodge i have owned. .
