Latest diesel addition to my family....

Here's yet another reason to chuckle at Ferd owners. The following link is to a thread on the NuWa Industries (Hitchhiker Fifth Wheels) website with a bunch of Ferd owners anguishing over and rationalizing about the stupid integrated brake controller that comes with the tow package on the new Ferds. It is apparently not compatible with the new optional electric over hydraulic disc brakes that are becoming a popular option on larger and more expensive fifth wheels and Ford won't talk to the suckers who bought them.

the first time I saw those on the Fords I thought what a great idea. Then I saw it was like a 250 dollar option. Wow for that you can get one heck of a after market controller and still have money in your pocket. -Jason

My brother-in-law, who has an 08 ferd super duty powerJoke say they are the same as a BrakeSmart. Ha! :-laf

Id pay $250 not to have an ugly looking POS hanging from my dash. I think all the trucks need them even if a little re-engineering needs to be done. They are now available in GM also from what I have heard.

I'd rather pay $250 to have a good brake controller hanging from my dash then to pay $250 to have a clean dash and a P__ for a brake controller.

The integrated brake controller should have happened a long time of go had its occurence been sooner it would probably be better. That being said not all of us have brand new $70,000 5th wheels that have electric over hydraulic disc brakes.

I have used the Ford with trailers with full on electric brakes, and I thought it worked great, especially when just creeping along. The trailer brakes won't come on full power if you just lightly hit the brakes. I really wish Dodge had an option like that.
