1. Do our Cummins 5. 9's have a forged crankshaft? Saw the Tundra commerical where they brag/demonstrate the weight their crankshaft can hold. Yeah sure:-{}, can it pull like a CTD:-laf?

2. My fuel guage has just started to wonder around after fill-ups. I continue to average 21+ mpg, (does the Tundra get that kind of average mpg:rolleyes:) the gauge just does not go all the way past the full line like it used to???

Thanks y'all, this forum is the best. I learn something new every time I log on. Yes sir, I am a proud CTD:D First Gen. owner/driver.

Near where I used to work someone had a crankshaft as a mailbox post. It had a small mailbox mounted on it so I guess that was a Tundra crankshaft.

During the last year of my CTD ownership, the fuel gage started to take several minutes to a half hour to register full. I don't know what changed unless I had an iffy ground connection or some corroded wire. That did not affect mileage;)

Forged, not forged?

I continue to wonder how the crankshaft is constructed:confused: Just looking for more stuff to brag about... :p

According to the 2003 Dodge sales consultant guide, under the driveline section, page 13,
yes the Cummins has a Forged Steel Crankshaft.
