Bumbling Blue Bird question: I may only haul 500lbs 4-times a month. NOT gonna drive daily as I did for 21-years. How often is smart to start and or take a short cruise to keep systems ready to roll? Local temperatures close to 100 daily till October. Thank you for your experienced guidance!
Blessings to all, Patrick

Straight up, the more you run it, the less trouble you will have with it. I would at least shoot for at least once a week or more if possible. I have multiple trucks here and the biggest mistake I make is letting any one of them sit for extende periods of time. It never fails that when I do try to use them, something needs fixed.

I'm dealing with that right now. We went on an extended RV trip earlier in the year and even after we came back, I hardly touched my old '07. Now after sitting for over 2 months, I am now replacing u-joints, hub bearings, etc. that have corroded up with the truck sitting outside in the weather. One of my 1/2 tons had a dead battery when we came back. Just lots of little things that go wrong when they aren't used.

Thank you for the excellent advice. I have a `72 VW Super Beetle that stays garaged long periods, I've experienced same. Drive it, something needs attention. CTD, I'll drive 'er weekly. TDR membership, like minded folks, a rank above! Blessings, Patrick

Depending on how you define "short cruise" maybe make it a "longer" cruise once/month to make sure everything really warms up. I'm not in 100, but takes me five to 10 mins just to get oil temp off the needle stop.
