Where do I go from here?

Hiding/Removal of those straps behind the quad cab seat?

I ran my 2001 ETH tonight at Phoenix International Raceway to help out the Mopar Hotteam Racing. They run quite a few Fast Mopars mainly against a Ford team of mustangs. They and ford decided to add some diesels to the fun. I am not sure of the points earned in the end but the Mopar team did very well against the Lighter Mustangs. :)

I ran three runs of 15. 3 et to 15. 4 et all of them at 92 mph. Does any one know how to estimate HP from these figures?

It was obvious that repair of my LSD diff and the addition of ladder bars is needed badly. Starting off in second at half throttle I would just spin the tire/s and then in third, fourth and sometimes fifth it would wheel hop.

But did I have fun!!! After a couple of runs they start coming over to your pit area saying "That a Diesel?" "Your truck weighs how much?" :cool:

The best part is most of the cars (Avg weight around 3,200 lbs)

that run times better than 14 or 13 et's are loaded on trailers and hauled home. All I had to do was snap my hubcaps back on! :p

hp=weight/ (ET/5. 825)^3

or

hp=(mph/234)^3 * weight

so how much does that beast weigh?

i'll just guess

(92mph/234)^3 * 6700lbs=407hp

6700lbs/(15. 3et/5. 825)^3=370hp

BTW:how bad were the EGTs???

Joe, I have to guess also. The only time I weighed it on a new digital scale it was 8,307 lbs. Before I came up to race I removed my Steel weather gaurd and all the tools. I will find a scale today and post the exact weight tonight.

If I was to guess 7,100 to 7,400lbs. It is the Quadcab, Sport, Tow pkg, Luggage, Rack and I had my wonderful wife with me for good luck. On my first run she watched from the stands and I missed TWO shifts :eek: :eek: :eek: still ran a 19. ? et.

My EGT's top out about 1200 in fifth and in sixth climb past 1400. But my speed is over 100mph so quick that I let up on the throttle and the egt's are over 1300+ for no more than a few seconds.

They climb much slower with the new turbo and exhaust. I have only towed a heavy load once with the new set up and with the PE comp on level one w/dd3's the egt's were 1200 or less at full throttle in 5th. I have some other Ideas for even lower egt's at higher power settings.

Tell Me More

So, how did the PSD's do?

Was there a 12v Dodge there too?

Wish my transmission was working, I'd liked to have come down.

Have you tried different shift patterns? Like 2 to 4 to 6th?

What rpm are you shifting at?

Sounds like you had fun eh? :cool:

Nowell,

It was a great time. The PSD that was matched up to race me was bumped out at the Tech area. They have a new rule at FireBird Raceway "No slow trucks!";) Just kidding.

I guess a month or two ago a nitros powered V8 in a lifted toyota did a wheel stand and when it came down it fell apart.

The truck that I was matched up to race was a nice looking PSD 4x4 but it had a lift kit and they no longer allow lifted trucks to race.

Andrew Weigle- the ford trucks Owner/Driver was bummed that he could not run. Nice guy- :cool: he stayed and watched the drags and complimented my trucks runs. (I hope he did not see the first one!)

I was the only diesel running the track. The one gas powered chevy truck that I ran beat me to the 60ft mark due to better traction but I beat him by several lenths+ (3 0r 4 sec) at the finish! :D

I tried varying my shifting a little but after three runs that were within 2 tenths of a sec and all at 92 mph I figure I need to work on traction. I can not floor it until 4th gear without too much wheelspin/wheel hop.

I thought about trying to launch in 4X4 but with the 6sp your hands are full! My wife offered to try the extra shift for me but after the embarassing first run I did not want to miss any more gears or maybe break the truck.

It will be easy to break into the low 14's et or better with the power I have now. I will get the posi installed and my ladder bar setup finished and installed. Can't Wait :D:D:D
