Dodge/Cummins Light Duty Diesel

Ford 6.4 Update

Hey Guys and Gals,

With all the maladies Ford has inflicted on folks with thier diesel engines I really think we need a forum solely for discussing Ford's issues.

This is not JUST for humor but could also be used to enlighten those who own or are considering purchasing the Ford.

Any takers?

Godspeed,

Trent

Personally, I come here for Cummins and Dodge specific info - and I know where the Ford, GM, and other boards are if I need specific info about them.

Diluting the content of this board with other makes, in my opinion, will also dilute it's overall quality and effectiveness, as well as lead to brand war conflicts and ridicule we certainly do NOT need!

As a side note, but related - a forum provided that would largely be used to ridicule other makes is counter productive to the business and industrial well being of this nation. We have lost enough domestic auto and other industrial enterprises to overseas competitors, and encouraging further erosion of those activities is NOT something I would like to see this board encourage or contribute to.

Just my opinion...

That is what sites like the TDS and TDG are for. :) And, we DO have a general diesel section.

I think the TDG is the best of those 2. It is for all diesels prety much, and not much whining or bashing going on, even if you have a differing opinion. We play well together over there. LOL

This is a Dodge/Cummins forum. I don't see any benefit in diluting it with sections dedicated to bad-mouthing competitive products.

JM2CW... .

i cant really see a need for it myself. if i need other brand info, i will head for another site that offers info on said brand. i own all three truck brands, and i dont have a closed mind, on most things. it's hard enough to sift through crap that trolls post, so finding a honest unbiased opinion about dodges on a ford site is pretty hard, or vise versa. long story short,in my opinion it just opens the door for brand bashing, and the possibility for false info to be posted.

Im like every one on here i have friends that own Fords but man let me tell you I cant imagnine having or see how any one can say there ford is built SO MUCH BETTER when there engine is CRAP 6. 9, 7. 3 ,6. 0 . 6. 4 i dont care its a navistar its all CRAP junk made engines 2nd rate diesel engines .

that would be your opinion, which you are entitled too. now my opinion after owning 9 navistar/international engines , from ford pickups,to tractors,to international 3 ton trucks ,they can make a dam fine engine. . i also cant see how a 2nd rate engine maker can hold the 1st and 2nd highest sales spot of medium duty engines [7. 3/466] if they are really 2nd rate.

I owned a few fords in the past and they have been problems from the start that is how I based my opinion . I would suspect the reason there sales is so high in the medium duty class is because they put it into there truck that they manufacture there trucks are geared for that market im sure if cummins made a meduim duty truck they would have just as good sales or better . I hope I didnt rib you the wrong way with my comment just from my past experiences Navistar has been problematic for me injectors ,glowplugs and main seal leaks .

just a joke, but may be true...

They sell more, because they don't last as long. Of course you can seel more, if your customers have to be a new one every 3-4 years...

MCummings i see your in Laredo TX I left there yesterday with 35 traincars full of new dodge trucks to bring to San Antonio . Wish I could have unloaded a few , alot of New 6. 7s coming in to US to find there new home .

Just think if all the Dodges,Fords, and Durmaxs where perfect we would have no need for any of these sites. I have not seen any of these trucks that did not have their problems. Dodge, Ford, and GMC are in a fight for their lives against Toyota. I just wish the American Car companies did a better job. The Germans would like to dump Dodge but there are no takers. I traded my 02 for and 06 Ford and have just passed 4500 miles and no problems. But who knows what is going to happen. My 02 Dodge went thru two injector pumps, 1 lift pump, 1 clutch, a heater motor, and at 94000 miles the engine start knocking. This does not include all I had to due to the front end. I still like the Dodge and the Cummins dispite all the problems I had with it. Cummins covers their warrenty better than Navistar. Would I buy another Dodge sure if the price is right. I would love to have a Ford with a Cummins or Cat engine and a speed Alison Transmission but like most people we buy whats available at the time.

mr darr if your posting from experience,so be it. sorry you had issues, but thats just the way it goes. personally i have spent more money on repairing cummins engines than navistar engines, but i still realize a good engine when i see it,regardless of brand. i will speak up for cummins engines when posting on ford or gm sites as well, i just try to make some folks realize, there are two sides to the coin, no offense taken sir...

Next time you have a 4x reg. cab auto with a 6. 7 go by, let me know. We can unload that one, and load up my 24V.

Think they will notice?
