More changes?

Hello out their

Staff Alumni
As you can see the forum upgrade is complete. vBulletin threw several curve balls at me which stretched out the time it took to complete the upgrade. I've been working on it for the last 14 hours.

The search engine will be rebuilding over the next several days (possibly up to a week) so you may have some issues searching existing posts until that is complete. Some of the special changes that we've made to the software aren't in place yet and we will be putting them in place over the coming months as we transition to this new version of vBulletin.

If you have any problems please post them here and I'll do my best to get to them as quickly as possibly. I'm heading to bed now and will be driving overnight on a family vacation but will be checking in all week to deal with issues that arise.

Thanks,

Steve St. Laurent

when I try to open "third Gen. no engine or transmission " I get dirrected back to the home page. This has been going on for at least the last two weeks and now I can't open the "no engine" area at all. At least before I could go to the bottom of the page and from the drop down menue select what I wanted but now I can't even do that. Can you help?

Hmm, noticed when I went to the drop down menu for dicussion forums in header, the search block bleeds through, so you can't see or select certain options..... Know you're busy, check it out when you get time. Also, the "More" feature link for the php (drop jaw, specifically) files goes to a blank... . Nothing like working the bugs out in a new ride.....

Lots of work here... . glad it was you and not me!! I can't sit still that long!!!!

Steve, I DON'T want my last name displayed in the forums. That's why I have a handle on the forums. Please remove my last name..... PLEASE. Thank you for your work on the site!

1. I can't seem to find the "preview" feature prior to posting;
On edit: It does work!!! I just had to be in GO ADVANCED ... duh factor on my part...
2. Spell check doesn't seem to work.

When I click on spell check, i get a new window for a new download for spell check??

Nick

Yep... I downloaded it. It is an internet explorer spell check, which was also available in the previous version; but alas, no change - still did not work for me directly through the application or the internet.

Just up for a few minutes to check on major issues - there is a bad url page that you should get sent to now. About two weeks ago we discovered that the software we were using to make the forum url's English readable had a potential malware vulnerability. We chose to disable that software. The result is that none of the existing forum links work now. This also applies to all links within threads as well. Your PC is caching the old pages. Try clearing the temporary internet files on your PC and you may have to clear your cookies as well. If your using IE either click on the sprocket looking link on the upper right or pull down the tools menu (go to internet options on either one and then you'll see a delete button). THen there will be a delete button there that will allow you to erase those.

It appears that every post ever made now has the last name on it:eek:

That was something I missed in setting up the new templates and it's a default setting for vBulletin. I've removed them all for now until have the chance to clean it up the way it used to be.

When you hit quick reply look below the quick reply box and you'll see a "Go advanced" button - that will take you to the full screen reply and the preview post button is there. By default your taken to the quick reply now which doesn't have a preview.

Well, it appears that all of the old links to the forum posts end up at the 'home-page. ' Even when I login, I am not re-directed to the link. Also, now there is a strange 'check-mark' as the logo, not the original TDR logo. 8Insignificant, but true. )

What was wrong with the old site? It worked... do not mess with a working system.
