There has been a mysterious rattle that I've been trying to locate for a long time on the passenger side of the truck. This one depends on how warm it is inside the cab when I first fire it up. At idle the rattle is bad sometimes.

I was determined to find the rattling part, rip it out and throw it out the window. I slid over toward the passenger side and the sound suddenly stopped. I was po'd for about 5seconds and realized that my hand was on the part that was rattling.

The passenger side seatbelt latch has this loose fitting cover and that was what was rattling. It always seemed like it was coming from the door but I guess the sound was echoing off the console. No wonder it never rattled when the wife rode in the truck since she always wears her seatbelt.

Now to find the one under the dash. :D

True story.

Friend of mine bought a new 1973, 340 Duster. From day one, it had a rattle that sounded like it was in the right rear corner of the trunk. After several trips to the dealer, Paul decided to fix it or else. After he removed the rear seat and rear kick panels, he found a Coke bottle in the forward cavity of the rear wheel well. And to add insult to injury, it had a note inside that said "Hi, bet you thought you'd never find that rattle".

:)

that guy

That assembly line guy must have told his friends about that trick. A friend of mine had a 1963 Impala that had a door rattle. He just took the panel apart and found a coke bottle in it. Another buddy of mine bought a new beretta and it had a rattle. The dealership did all kinds of searches, and finally tore the front end off. They found a big nail stuck into a hole in the front inner rail with a note with "This rattle really sucks, don't it!":p

the coke bottel is an old one,

an old friend of mine did assy at a pontiac plant in fremont ca,early 70's

what they used to do is take a 1/2 inch nut. tie it on a string &hang it between 2 spot welded body panels talk about hard to find!!

a piece of advice :if you buy a gm product, make shure its not made on monday or friday!!!... ... . words to the wise.

A friend of mine got fired at a Chevy dealership. To get his revenge he attached 12in tie-wraps on the rear driveshaft of everything on the lot late one night. I guess when anyone that took one of those vehicles for a test drive, all they heard was SLAP-SLAP-SLAP-SLAP!!:D

A friend of mine used to work in Detroit for Chrysler as a line foreman. After several complaints from dealerships about bottles and cans found in body panels, a new policy was born that immediate termination would happen to anyone having a soda can or bottle on the lines.
