Found 91 for sale

Found a 91 auto w/97000 miles for sale,fellow is asking 3500. 00 for it. I'm going to look at it tomorrow and I need to know some of the things I should be looking out for. He already told me about the peeling paint but said body is straight. Any help is appreciated. nb

If it runs well and the transmission gets through all the gears smoothly, I'd go for it.

If you are looking at a 91, check and see if it is intercooled. The first half of the 91's arent intercooled and the 91. 5's are.

91's, what to look for

Besides looking for the obvious stuff, intercooler, no damage, paint, tires, etc. look at the maintenance for the fuel pump, fuel injection pump, and if a manual the Getrag transmission. Those transmissions are expensive ($2500) and most failed at about 80,000 miles. I understand the replacements are much better. The fuel injection pump is about $1600.



I just sold a 91. 5 4x4 LE 5-speed manual, 3. 55 gears, and those are the three big things that needed addressing before 140,000 miles when I sold it. Mine was charcoal grey; the paint was history.
