just to the left of the power distribuition box where it comes out of a wiring harness. I can't find it on the schematics in the FSM but that is nothing new to me! Anyone know where it's supposed to go? Oh it's a 2001 3500 with an automatic.

TIA, George

George,

Funny you should mention that. I just installed a Pac-brake on my truck and when I was removing the ECM, I saw it just laying down on the fender well. I got a meter and determined that it is a ground wire but after consulting my repair manual, I couldn't find it anywhere in there. It looks like it comes out of the same loom that the ABS wiring comes out of. Since I haven't had a need for it in 3 1/2 years, I'm not too worried about it but it would be nice to know what it is for. Anybody?

If thats the same wire I'm thinking of someone told me that it's for a PTO, therefore if you ground it it's supposed to increase the rpm's to 1500, maybee you can put a switch on it and make your own high idler. Just a thought.

I found the very same wire... ... . I grounded it... ... ... . maybe that's what is stopping my high idle reflash from working.....

Somebody has to know positively what this wire is for... ... ...

Eric

I don't know exactly what wire you're talking about but when I had my '95 1/2 ton, I had a black wire with an eyelet appear when I told them that I didn't want the "factory" alarm they install on all vehicles on this dealer's lot... The dealer may of been blowing smoke but told me that it was left over from the alarm.

Back then I still had some faith in the dealer so I believed hime, now I would definately investigate it myself.
