Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) found a source for IAT sensor other than dealer

Partsamerica.com has them for $24. 95 + shipping. I have read in some posts that people were paying as much as $48 for them.

Why does this part fail?



Is it something other than a therma couple?



I have also read that it can get dirty from the use of an E-Brake. True or False?
