I was looking for a way to mount my Ham 2 meter radio without having it just hanging somewhere. My 2003 Sport with Electric T Case shift has a small cubby where the manual T case shift would normally be. This cubby will pop right out. I took a piece of 16 ga steel and traced the outline of the cubby where it recesses on the console. I then marked out the cutout area for my Icom 2000 radio. All cuts were made with my plasma torch. The new face plate was painted black. I took U channel gasket, made to put around windows around the 4 sides of the opening. The Icom 2000 then slid right into place. Power cables and antenna line can run under the console towards the engine, coming out the back of the console. Between my Clutch and brake pedals is a rubber plug which can be cut open to route the power cables to the battery and antenna line to antenna. No cutting of the Ram was needed except the rubber plug.

Can some one tell me how to link to a picture on image event so it will show in a post ?

I used to carry a Kenwood TS-570DG for mobile - but the new 6-speed made mounting it a problem, so I went with the Icom IC-706MKIIG and it's detachable faceplate. The faceplate sits nicely on a formed aluminum bracket secured with silicone cement to the under-lip of the dash bezel up at eye level, but does not intrude on vision of the road ahead - easy to momitor and adjust without taking eyes off the road, and the main box sits out of sight under the center seat. Has worked extremely well - even bought a second one for backup and to use in the 5th wheel trailer we tow...

I've been trying to figure out a good place for my big 'ol Cobra and a pistol safe since I got my truck. My biggest complaint is no place to put anything.

Thanks for the ideas.
