Does this truck exist?

Hello, once again,

I found a pickup bed for my 1991, and finally got it last week. 14 miles on it, perfect paint, the right color, and even the right year, with a "diesel fuel only" decal on the fuel door. Can't beat that!

The body shop found that the cab supports are pretty well gone, and need to be replaced. They can't find the parts anywhere. Then again, they couldn't find the bed, either, and I only put about 3-4 hours into my search and found it.

I suppose that they can be fabricated, but I'd rather have a replacement part if it is at all possible. Does anyone know of a source for these? Again, I have tried a lot of places, and they offer things for Ford and GM, but no Dodge. Ideas? Thanks again, in advance.

Mark

I have some from an old gas job that I am stripping for a recab. I took the ones for the cab but the ones for the bed are still there. Kind of a pain to remove as yoiu have to cut the rivets. I can't do it for a week or so but if you aren't in a big hurry I can take them off and send them to you. Let me know, Dave

Dave,

Thanks for the response. I think I might have not described the right part. What I am looking for is the part of the cab that is under the floor on each side, as opposed to part of the frame. This is basically stamped sheet metal that's part of the floor. I am not sure what you would call it; I have heard it called a floor support. It's the part of the cab that the bolts go into.

Thanks again,

Mark

I've got those too, but I'll have to check them out and same deal, I am cutting corn this fall and will be very busy for a while. If you still want them in a few weeks, I can turn the cab over and cut them out of the floor. I am stealing the hump from the cab to fit into my gas 2wd cab to accomodate the transmission and transfer case and can take the mounts out too. Let me know which ones you need. I may have broken off one of the bolts, I can't remember which one. Let me know

Those ebay ones are the frame mounts... not the sheetmetal cab mount he is referring to. . I would fabricate some up in some stronger steel. The sheet metal ones hold all the sand salt and dirt and rot out very very easy. . if you fabbed some up I bet those would be a huge improvement. That is what I pklan on doing with mine.

thanks

Deo

Mark,

I am in the same boat as Dave, I just cut the hump out of my 92 cab so I could have a removable hump in the new crossbreed. The 92 has very little surface rust here and there, but the truck spent a lot of time on dirt roads and some sheet metal pieces have fatigue cracks.

From what I have seen on the cab floor there are not any, but I haven't looked too close.

I will be disposing of the remainder of the cab in a few weeks when my life slows down a tad. I will be able to look closer next week and give you a better report then. I could cut them out get them to you if you don't have something else worked out by then.
