I am weighing the pros and cons of auto vs manual now.

A subcatagory is the question... can the 47RH 4WD transmission be used with my existing NP205 transfer case?

Maybe an Allison 545 is available in a short shaft version and would allow the NP205 to be mated to it?

I know the 241 transfer case used in the 94 up trucks has the front axle driveshaft on the drivers side of the truck to accomodate the Dana 61? Am I correct on this?

Thanks for the input.

Paul, If I am not mistaken you can use the Tailshaft housing from a 518 4wd trans for a np205 on a 47rh trans I would call Bill K. to confirm. The other possibility is a divorce mount np205 tc from an early 70's dodge, this way you could use any 2wd trans (allison, spicer, eaton ect... ) #ad

As far as auto vs. manual debate. What are you planning to be 4 wheeling in? Out here we've got pretty impressive snow (heavy and wet) also, more than our fair share of mud.
. 2 sec shift time in our rigs with TF's means no chance to bog down or lose traction.
Not so with sticks unless a guy is really good. Hope this helps.
Good luck, Jones

Yes the 205 will bolt up to the back of a 47rh. There are a couple of mods needed though. First the locating dowel needs to be knocked out of the t/case, there is a hole in the back of the boss that a small roll pin punch will fit through to do this. Second, the seal needs to be pulled out of the extension housing of the trans. Third, the weep hole passage needs to be plugged, I used high temp silicone for mine. Hope this helps.
