Does anyone know where I can get Fox shocks for my 02 2500? I don't need anything fancy (like huge shafts or external resevoirs), I just want something that rides nice. I remember reading an article in Fourwheeler where they installed a set on their 3rd gen. test vehicle and said they rode great, so I thought I might give them a shot.

King is not Fox, but they are both high end in my book.

Check out the King shock set up at Thuren Fab. Not only are they great shocks, but they are tuned correctly for our trucks. Out of the box shocks won't be optimized for any application. I will be going this route eventually cause the ride SUCKS!!

(NO, I don't have any affiliation with Thuren. Don has helped me several times and I haven't bought anything from him yet!)

It ain't as simple as just bolting in a set of Fox Shox. All the Fox shox have hiem joints on both ends. You have to adapt them to the truck. The 2. 0 series use a 1/2" bolt and the 2. 5 series use a 5/8" bolt. KORE, Carli, Lorenz, etc. all build nice setups to mount Foxes or Kings and have the valving pretty well dialed. I had a set of 2. 0's on a Jeep Cherokee and really liked them. I have a set of 2. 5's from KORE now that I have the rears installed but need to find time to get the fronts in.

If you want to build your own adaptors you can go to Foxes website and do a dealer search for your area. The desert racing setups are probably a overkill if all you want is a good ride. In that case it may be worth your time to fab up some mounts on your own.

my Fox 2. 0 remote reservoir shocks have a vertical stud on top to use the stock upper mounts.

Cool! Is this something new from FOX?

What did you do to adapt the bottom end where the stock bolts ar 14mm?

Phil

Length wise the 2. 0 Fox's will work best on the Dodges, the 2. 5's are too long and will need to have modified bodies and shafts.

The problem with the 2. 0's is the spherical bearings. They will fit a 1/2" bolt max. The mounting hardware on the Dodge is 14mm, and slightly bigger than 1/2". This is why all of the 2. 0's that you see on Dodges use urethane bushings. You will have to modify the Fox bushings but it's a heck of alot easier to do the bushings rather than the bearings.

I have 1 set of Fox 2. 0's that I used to test valving profiles on. They have modified lower bushing and standard spherical joint on the top.

The Fox 2. 0s with the stem tops where developed for the KORE Chase set up, but Fox now sells them as a stand alone shock with the urethane bushings. (They are in a specialty area of the web page, not the 2. 0 series page. ) That will work for an other wise stock truck, BUT you would have to trial and error the valving to get it like you want. You could probably end up with a great ride but it'd be a lot of trouble. My experience with the heim joints is that they are a high maintainance item suited more for recreational use. For an everyday driver, I think the urethane are the way to go. This is one of the reasons I when with the Chase. I ended up replacing the heim joints with urethane on my 01 with the

Bilstein 2. 0s. You might want to consider using some 5100 Bilsteins or one of the leveling kits from one of the quality suspension vendors.
