Now that Dodge has eliminated the ability to get "Carpet Delete" I've been looking for some VERY GOOD carpet protection. I found some mats called "Fox Weatherboots" on Cabela's website. Seem really nice but pricey. Anybody got these? What do you think of them as compared to the more common Husky type?

I have these in my 2nd gen. As far as I am concerned they are the absolute best liner that you can purchase for a truck. They are no comparison to the Huskey liners. They are a little spendy, and being kind of "thrifty" that was a hard thing for me to get over :) but one of the first things I will buy for my new truck will be a set of Weatherboots.

I have husky liners, they fit nice and protect very well, and are probably much less expensive. You can order them from Geno's garage.

I have them and they are top notch. They have channels that run all of the water you drag in back out the door. I have had them in all my trucks and wouldn't buy anything else.

Also the carpet is replaceable- I usually do it once a year. For 15 bucks the mats look new again.

You can also buy factory direct for a little cheaper. http://www.foxweatherboots.com/

I've been using the Husky liners for all my trucks for the past 6 or 8 years... . we get a set for the truck when its new... and leave them in the truck when we sell it... . usually at 400 to 450K miles... in all cases, we just wash them off and put them back i the trucks... the carpets look new...

My complaint with the Husky's is that if you get into the truck with a bunch of snow on your boots and it melts of onto the mat, it will splash around outside of the Husky mats. This is not a problem with the Weatherboots. Also I have the tendancy to rest the side of my boot up against the center hump while also on the accelerator. The Husky does not protect this area as well either.

If you live where it doesn't snow the Husky's would be alright, but I personally would still opt for the Weatherboots.

Hands down the best floor protection. I've had husky's in other trucks and they don't compare.

Only problem is the carpet wears, I'll have to look into replacing it soon.

I had the Huskys in my 2nd gen, have Fox Weatherboots in my 3rd gen. Weatherboots are superior, the best I found after a long search. I have the front and rear set. The rear set fits perfectly and works with the cargo floor. They look like a stock product.

The Huskys would hold melted snow and eventually overflow on to the carpet. No matter how carefull I kicked the snow off my boots some would melt on the liner. The movement of the truck would send the slush over the edge of the liner. Then, when I got home, I would carefully lift them out to drain them. A pain.

I also recommend Cabelas for truck products. Good prices and no problem with returns.

According to what I spec'd for my 2006 order, I could get carpet delete...

Laramie or SLT trim level? Mine's a Laramie... seems that they don't think you'd ever want to combine leather for the butt and vinyl for the feet!

Another vote for the Fox Weatherboots. Channeling the water and slush out beats Husky by a country mile.

Husky was easier to clean. Just hose it off. And, they did fix one problem: The ones in my 98 slid all over the footwell. Now they have little nubs that grip the carpet. Much improved.

All in all, Weatherbots are better.

I didn't want carpet either but my deal was such that I couldn't say no. After a season of snow I replaced the carpet with a vinyl floor. Install was strait forward.

Pretty darn cheap! $113. 95 for black vinyl for quad cab? How's the fit, quality and looks in your opinion? How long did it take you to install it? Did the OEM carpet come off without too much fight?

Looks to be a very similar design and a few bucks cheaper. Intresting. Like to hear comments from anyone that might have them too!

Interesting, looks like a cross between a Fox and a Husky. That would be an interesting dog BTW... ...

I do like the flat spot that goes over the door sill like the Weatherboots. That key feature lets the pan drain out of the cab, not on the carpet.
