i'm in need of a fuel pressure guage and had a few questions... . first of all, i have the sport comp autometers for my boost and egt so would like to get one to match those, however it wouldn't have to be autometer if somthing else would be better. all i can find are 0-100 psi and 0-15. i would like something in between. also, i know that a mechanical guage shouldn't really be mounted inside the cab, but is the risk enough to account for the price difference between mechanical and electric? i'm not too worried about a little diesel leaking on me if i were to spring a leak. comments or suggestions?

I use a Westach 40 PSI gauge. You can get just about any pressure range that you want from them. They are electronic which I prefer. I didn't see the pressure range I wanted in their catalog or in the Geno's Garage catalog so I e-mailed them about it and asked if they had a 40 PSI gauge. The response was "sure, how many ya want?" along with the part numbers for the gauge and the sending unit. It has worked fine for quite a few miles.

I actually have a mechanical one. You will need to purchase a separate piece called an isolator. It's an aluminum housing that is basically split in half that has a piece of rubber that halves the internals of the part. One one side, you plumb in a fuel line(I have mine running from the top of the fuel filter housing) and on the other side, it has another line that strictly runs antifreeze up into the cabin. Basically, it isolates the fuel to under the hood and runs a non-flammable product into the cabin. If it's not illegal to run fuel directly into the cabin, it's a really dumb idea. I have an Autometer mechanical FP gauge that when I bought it, it came with the isolator. I think the shop where I purchased it didn't realize the isolator was supposed to be separate, but I got the whole kit for around $160. I can't remember, and I even believe it's in my signature, but I think it's the Ultra-lite series. I think that mine only goes to 15psi, but it's been enough. If I run a stock LP, 15psi is just about right, as the max psi is about 13 with stock LP.
