For anyone that needs a good laugh.

Looking at ugrading at the end of this season to the I-12. I've shot pump guns my whole life so this would be my first auto. It's going to be used primarily for waterfowl. Anybody have any opinions?

Thanks,

Joe

I've seen several I-12 in use this season on pheasants and ducks. No problems noted. I like the inertia drive, it absorbs a lot of recoil and continues to work when filthy. You might also consider a Benelli Super Black Eagle. Same inertia drive but capable of eating 3 1/2" shells. The I-12 is limited to 3".

I asked a couple of guys at work who are part of a group that shoot clays twice a month. They said mixed reviews on the I-12. The Benelli was considered a better choice, but not because of the 3. 5 shells. Whether it's worth the extra coin depends on how many shells you plan on running through it. I have an 870 & it's all I'll ever need unless I move out of the city. The guys I asked are pretty hard core.

Yeah the 870's what i've got now and i've worn the poor thing down to a nub. Best all around pump gun hands down. The only reason for wanting to switch to auto is just to get on that second shot quicker and smoother, that and shoot twice as many shells:-laf The issue of 3 1/2's i think are more a matter of preference than functionality. I think a well placed 3 or even 2 3/4 gets the job done. Unless you shoot with lots of optimism(sky bustin). Not saying i'm a great shot, i just don't shoot em anymore. The benelli SBE 2 is an amazing gun but it also is a bit more coin. I just don't think @ 25yo i wanna spend that much on somethin that's gonna get abused all winter.
