I wasn't entirely sure where to post this, but it is related to a conversion so I put it here.
I just purchased an '83 W350 crew cab 4x4
and intend to do the cummins conversion to it. It was previously rebuilt/refurbished by the last owner and is now running a '93 5. 9L Magnum (gas engine) with an A518 auto overdrive/married 205 tcase.
A friend of mine has a '91(ish I'm not exactly sure of the year) D250 2wd cummins with the A518 auto overdrive.
We are wondering if we can somehow use the front half of the 2wd diesel trans and the back half of the 4wd gas trans in order to make a 4wd diesel trans. Can you just swap the rear adapter housings?? or do you have to swap output shafts to work with the 205?? Any difference between a 2wd/4wd diesel torque converter????
