Several weeks ago I posted a question about increased blowby after installing the Frantz filter and putting the return line in the valve cover. I can now tell you that it definatly does increase the blowby.

I have a 98. 5 24V that has the blowby hose on the left side of the engine near the fuel filter. My oil return was into the valve cover just aft of the oil filler cap. I took my filter off and put a collection bottle on the hose. I collected about a tablespoon of oil after about three weeks - close to 1500 miles. I reinstalled the filter and got a tablespoon in 3 days.

I am going to look into hooking the filter return line into the turbo return line. If anyone has done this or if anyone has a better idea let me know. I would appreciate any advice.

I assume you've looked into routing the oil return into the oil fill cap or down tube? On mine, I punched (literally!) a hole up high in the pan, and threaded in a hollow hose bib for a return - works great...

I just tapped a hole in the side of the valve cover.

Dunno about blowby yet. . motor's torn down for a new cam at the moment.

I hope you got the polished fiter. It's worth at least 40hp;):D

Tom,

I thought I was seeing more oil under the truck than normal but didn't think too much about it. I think I'll run a test like you did and see what results I get.

I dunno that's it's more blowby with mine. I was thinking it was a very small leak.

Kind of like a fine mist on the front of the engine.

Check out JParks' post on bypass filter return thru the oil cap. I think he has found a good solution. He found a hole to tap in the block on the passenger side, just above the oil pan.
