Lower radiator hose

Got our new Frantz TP bypass filter installed. Mounted to the top of the alternator bracket. just enough room to close the hood. Drilled out oil cap and left about ten extra inches of hose to oil cap so I can turn the cap and hose counter clockwise and then thread it on the valve cover without having to undo the hose clamps to add oil. Our cap was spring loaded with racheting device and vent that I removed, and JB welded together. Drilled some holes under the cap so it could vent to outside. After test drive just a little oil came from vent cap; will check it this week and if need will plug a few of the vent holes I made. I relocated and reduced the hose to 1/2 on the pill bottle so I wanted to be sure there is enough ventilation. Not a hard job to do at all. Ordered my kit from We filter it from Deborah Walker Harley. She says she has plenty of new TP kits and replacement parts for old and new filter kits, very nice lady. 208-467-3726:D

I don't think I like the idea. What's going to happen when you change the filter and all that oil runs into your alternator? Or am I missing something here?

George:

It does'nt look like I will get oil in the alternator. I will be changing the oil filter next weekend and if it looks like it will be a problem then I will make a bracket and relocate it to a more upright position

And make a slick power source

just kiddin. .

Just swivel it up vertical & wrap some paper towels around underneath it and you should be ok. The problem might be that the return hose is higher than the base of the frantz, so some oil may lay down in the screen area instead of draining out. It wont be much if it does.

Questions...

Where did you tap the oil feed from??

And what size fittings needed-1/8"NPT or 1/4"NPT?

Is hose included in kit?

The kit comes with everything you need. I will double the clamps this weeked just to be sure. Looks like 1/4 inch. Leave the hose to the oil cap long so you can twist it counter clock wise then screw it on the valve cover. Make sure the hole in the oil cap is large enough for the oil flow. I thought it was a vented cap, I called Dodge and they could not say if it is vented or not. I now believe it is a non vented cap. Be sure to remove the spring in the oil cap when drilling the hole in cap. I used JB weld on the cap to be sure the fitting would not come loose. With the cap off you can see the oil through the cap, it looks a lot cleaner.
