I'm about ready for my second TP change. What brand TP are you using? My first change didnt turn out as well as I hoped. The TP was too long, and the housing wasnt completely sealed. I found the leak before it became too much of a mess, but I really had to struggle to get the housing sealed. The TP is way too long!!!

I bought the cheapest brand single ply, because this is what was suggested in past posts.

Got a specific brand? My endless supply of "mil spec" TP is no longer there. :D

Any off the shelf brands that work decent?

Thanks. Sorry for the long post.

Eric

If you can find a motel supply, the very tightly wound type they use in motels work best. You still have to unroll some of the paper.

Check with www.wefilterit.com , I ordered their brand of paper made especially for Frantz filters, cost about $7. 00 for six rolls. Makes life much easier when changing filter.

I don't have a Frantz filter, but you may want to look at the Scott 1000 sheet rolls. I remember them as being single ply and tightly wound (unlike the soft Charmin stuff). When I was single I used them in the bathrooms because it seemed like the rolls never ran out (now that I'm married the better half prefers the softer stuff and she does most of the purchasing).

Thanks for all the relpys guys.

RClark, I got it from a TDR member named Barry.

C Schomer, I did a search on Ft James, and found something interesting. Did you know that #17600 is two ply?

I went to the one ply page, and found this:

I'm thinking that # 13105, or #00271 would probibally fit real good. Unfortunatly I didnt measure the origanal roll before installing the filter.

All the rolls I can find locally are 4. 5" tall. Too tall to close the housing.

The 13105 is 3. 7" tall, and the 00271 is 4".

I cant seem to find anything locally that's under 4. 5" tall.

The 00271 is 48 rolls per case, but the 13105 is six rolls per case.

I wish I could find this locally. Guess I'll have to have it shipped in.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

There's sure enough choices! George was talking about the I. D. when he gave me that number. It's been over 30 yrs. since I changed a roll in a Frantz and I don't remember exactly how the roll has to fit in the center. George said the 17600 was one of the very few rolls anymore with a 1. 5" I. D. . He said most are 1 5/8" now, and I think he meant they won't seal in the center. Craig

I always used the single ply Scott in my TP powered International. It is the only brand at the super market you can buy in a single roll.

Some of you may not know that George Walker died last year. His daughter, Debra Walker Haley has moved the inventory(some 4,000 filters) to a suburb of Boise, Id. She is still not quite sure of what all she has but is determined, like her father, to keep the Frantz Filters alive. Her phone # is 208 467 3726. I think someone has already given a website above.
