Oil viscosity in the 6.0L PSD

DiPricol 4 gauge set w/ Blk. face in '02 truck

How about pic`s of the Frantz mounted so we can get some ideas, education, on different installs.

I have not mounted my Frantz, I am waiting on the Amsoil fitting:(

Mounted to the side of the battery ... used the Frantz bracket. Basically, just used a bolt, thick washer & kep nut. The thick washer "pinches" the Frantz bracket to the battery holder loooong bolt.

Ck the Readers rig pics ... got a couple pics there.

It actually worked out kinda neat. The Frantz "swings" outa the way to access things ... turns with the battery holder bolt.

Very nice install. The location of the filter makes a change a snap. Man I also like the valves. Where does your oil return to the engine???

"JSmith, check out my readers rig gallery for pics of my Frantz install"

Keep a close eye on those valves - I think they use a rubber packing gland that might deteriorate when exposed to oil, and create a leakage problem...

I have some like that here, will take one apart to check it out...

YUP - checked out the one I have that looks identical to yours - and it uses some sort of rubber O-ring looking seal as packing at the shaft - worth keeping an eye on in case leakage starts - possibly pretty decent pressure there...

Used the hollow bolt that came with the filter and drilled a hole in the very top of the oil pan. Drains very good. Changed TP roll yesterday just to see. After about 15 minutes, all the oil had drained and spilled none.

Gary, yes there is a small rubber o-ring in the valves. I have them tightened enough that they will not leak, I hope. Only time will tell.

Why not use the punch and the washer that came with it? No shavings that way. Hope you greased up the drill bit to stop the filings. I went with the Amsoil swivel fitting in the cap.

The punch method IS better for elimination drill chips from falling into the pan - but if the pan metal is as thick and hard on these later trucks as it was on my '91. MAN, what a chore! ;) :D

Here is a picture of the return line from an Amsoil by-pass filter. I used a punch to put the hole in and made the hole just large enough to allow the tip of the "hollow" bolt to enter, then I tightened it snug against the sealing washer. It hasn't leaked in over a year of hard use by my grandson.

This is just another option in returning the oil back to the oil sump from a by-pass oil filter system.
