Free car history report

Is there anywhere you can get a free(FREE)car history report?So far the places I have checked all want money. They advertise free car history report but when I put in the vin# then they want you to pay 14. 95 or more to run a check. I am just curious if they have anything on my VW from the time I had the roof repaired from my daughter backing into the Martin house and it fell on the roof and dented it breaking out my back window.

Car History

If you had the repairs done at a dealership, it will show up on a car history report. If not, it probably isn't there. I ran a history on my MR2 when I put it up for sale. I had to pay. The title and VIN are clean.

Were there martins in the house when she hit it?

No there were no Martins in the house when she backed into it. The repairs were not done at the dealer but an independent boby shop. . I'm just curious about the car history. And to top it off she wrecked her car about a month ago(not her fault). It should be ready next week. It did a little over 4000 in damage. Nothing really major wrong. These cars just have to much plastic on them now.

Free Car Reports

Time for the old saying of "Nothing is for free".

Your are correct in all the companies wanting money to give you a completed report however if you look at the "Free" Carfax report you will see how many reports a vehicle has then you have to pay to find out what they are.



Example is the 99 van we just bought. It had 5 reports and so I paid to find out why so many on a 2-3 yr old rig and it turned out 1 was a dealer transfer from Canada, 1 the original financing, 2 re-finance and 1 title transfer from Washington to Oregon - No problems but it was worth the $15 clams for peace of mind.
