If anyone is looking for a $free$ brush guard that looks nice but is almost as useless as the plastic sport guard, let me know.

Maybe you are getting ready to sell your truck and want to add a nice one day old brush guard to dress it up...

I have a black steel horse brush guard that I used for one day. Damn thing is bolt together and not sturdy enough for the dirt roads I spend my life on.

Non-returnable, so my loss is your gain.

I was going to leave it in my yard to rot as a reminder to never buy unless I can put my hands on something first.

Wife thinks otherwise, so if you can figure out how to get it, you can have it. Really

I still like the idea of mounting it to the lawn mower. #ad

David_VT,
Did you pay for it via Credit Card? Dispute the charge. I've had to resort to this tactic before and it's amazing how the merchant responds when Visa/MasterCard steps in.

I can't believe that SteelHorse has a no refund/exchange policy that is this draconian. Sounds like the brush guard is not 'fit for particular a purpose' or does not meet the 'implied warranty of merchanability'. Throw these at them and see what they do.

Good Luck,
Brian

I second that on the credit card idea. I once disputed a charge and the bank told me not to worry about it. I never had to pay and nobody ever requested for the product back (sometimes cards even have their own warrantee feature). Can you try welding the brush guard?

I looked at a nice brush guard today. It is made by Manic off road eqpt. You can get a look at it at www.manik.com
I saw this at Yankee Custom Inc. They have a store in Nashua NH. 603-882-8868
The unit is all welded at the factory. The only part that bolts in is the grill inserts for the headlights if you want to use them. The thing bolts to the inside of the frame rails like the factory ones so it doesn't block the factory fog lights. It is nicely formed to the front and has an optional kit for a 9000 lb winch.
I picked it up and it's real durable but only about 75 lbs.
They told me $440 installed.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the support and suggestions guys, this came from an on-line auction not direct from Steel Horse. My loss is your gain and a big step forward on the learn the hard way process.

I was tempted to put this back on an auction and give to another person, but I'll sleep better knowing I did not.

I've had two nibbles for the freebie, suggesting the human nature thing that there must be some catch if it is free.

OK, send me $200 for it and I'll pay the shipping. (really I don't care as long as it goes away)

Maybe I'll take it down to the New England dragstrip next month and try to pedal it to one of those urban assault vehicles.

David_VT,
Please tell me that you put a very nasty letter in the sellers profile. How 'bout 'outing' the person on TDR so the rest of us don't get taken for a ride by someone w/o any moral character?

I must commend you for not trying to peddle to another Ram owner knowing that it won't meet their requirements.

Brian
