3Farr . so on the 98, I assume the hub kit, kept the rotor retained by the studs , didn't convert to a slip on rotor?

Everything was as stock, press on rotor small brake caliper. You can see the size difference between the single and two piston calipers. If you want to keep the single piston type brake system you are stuck with the oem parts. I did go with drilled and slotted rotors and they do not fade quite as quick. You could fit a 2000 or newer bearring hub assy and slip on rotor on your stock 98 axle but would not be able to hang the caliper. The slide for the single piston caliper is forged into the knuckle assy and would contact the rotor.

2Farr, yea, not going to spend the extra 750 + for a new axle (on top of the free spin kit), so yea, not going to get those nice big calipers.
Lasts time I did the rotors, went with some good slotted rotors. improved the stopping. But they are getting too thin.
So time for new rotors.

I have the Spyntec kit on mine. I really like it and was due on one front unit bearing at the time (136K). I think my kit was $1500.00. I HATE unit bearings and am WAY old school, so it was any easy decision. Also, I will never sell the truck, so it's a long term investment for me.

The ONLY way to deal with dodges crappy single piston calipers is to do Ford conversion, replacing everything from the ball joints out. Use parts from either a 92-94 or 95-97 F-350. Did mine around 12 years ago, an I just replaced my first set of pads and one rotor (procrastination) a couple months ago. Best mod to date. Since I have duplicate parts and upgraded parts, I will be selling most all the parts for a full conversion soon. Not trying to peddle it here. Just keep an eye out in the classifieds.

Btw, a Posi-loc works awesome to replace the vacuum CAD. It cannot fail. The only reason I took it out was because I replaced the entire axle with a solid 35 spline axles.

Hope this helps.
